As a Devops Engineer on this team, you will collaborate with other experienced technology professionals to drive improvements to our stack, design and develop new services and solutions, and build and track metrics to ensure high-quality results. You will have the opportunity to work with internal business partners and leadership to influence and drive product vision and drive the design of our systems. At Expedia, we are known for our customer obsession. We need your ideas and your ability to innovate and produce results as we continuously improve the customer experience.

Our collaborative engineers are involved in many phases of the application life-cycle. Teams release software to production multiple times a day. We measure application performance with the goal of continuously improving the customer experience and the underlying technical platform. We tackle problems of scale and utilize groundbreaking, open-source technologies.

You Will Fit The Role If

  • You love to write code.
  • You establish development patterns that guide the delivery of highly maintainable, reliable, and scalable code.
  • You are curious and like to dig in deep, debug, and resolve complex technical issues.
  • You have high standards and ensure excellent code quality through automation testing, including unit, integration and functional testing.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, and/or 4+ years equivalent work experience
  • Practical experience in one or more programming languages such as Python, Ruby, JavaScript, etc.
  • Sound understanding of relational databases, server architecture, and networking fundamentals
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and ability to drive process
  • Passion to grow skillset
  • Clear and concise communicator
  • Highly self-motivated and directed
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, etc.
  • Understanding of monitoring concepts and usage of various monitoring tools
  • Experience with automation/configuration management such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or equivalent
  • Experience with Jenkins a plus
  • Experience supporting e-commerce sites a plus
  • Server or network administration a plus

What Will You Do

  • Pipeline tooling and automation.
  • Developing infrastructure as code.
  • Install and debug new and upgraded software on cloud platforms.
  • Debug systems, applications, and networks to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems.
  • Production support as part of an on-call rotation
  • Stay up to date with relevant state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and systems.
